( not being honest with the girl initially had probably not been the right thing to do but she'd been surprised. you couldn't really blame her with the information that she'd been delivered -- the doctor had a child, one that was still alive and one that was (essentially) a clone of him.

there were a few things that river knew about, a few things that she didn't like about this situation and a few things that river needed to do. one of them was to be a little honest with the girl, even if it was only partially )

Jenny-- ( she pauses. now that she's doing it she doesn't quite know what to do ) --I was thinking about taking another look at the pods, see who we can find and what other information we can get if you wanted to join me.

( investigate your friend, take another look for your father-- )

River! Hi! Don't know how much good it would do, but I'm up for trying. I had a clever idea about how to locate dad, but I don't have the tech for it.

I may be able to help you put something together.

( she's also been fiddling with the sonic. there were a few settings that would help but considering that the result she'd been getting were incomplete or sometimes incomprehensible... they needed something else too )

[Jenny arrives promptly, a bounce in her step and a smile for River. She's carrying a mess of scavenged tech under one arm.]

( she'd gotten started whilst waiting for jenny, scanning the walls that were closest to her to get as many readings as she could. it might seem like a strange endeavour but the more data that river had the more that she could begin to rule out.

she spins on her heels at jenny's calling, taking one look at the pile under her arm )

I thought you didn't have the tech?

( you are so you father's daughter )

I didn't! I don't. This is, uh... [she shifts the pile, which looks more like a jumbled mess than anything cohesive] It's a work in progress.

I'm trying to cobble together a sort of bio-scanner with a tracker. Since I have dad's DNA, if we scan me for reference and then set it to scan an area for a similar match, we can at least figure out if we're going in the right direction, assuming I can give it a good range.

[Yes, she's definitely her father's daughter, and yes, this is all stolen. Let's not make a thing of it.]

( that wasn't a bad idea and river looks suitably impressed by it. not that she's particularly surprised that jenny has something brilliant -- time lord genetics helped there. and her father )

( she motions for jenny to put what she's got down, looking at where she'd begun and seeing where to go from there. well, at least the sonic would be good for its actual purpose -- putting something together

It's River. I was planning a trip, I thought I'd see if you wanted to come with me.

( whilst she typically did her exploring alone she wanted to get to know jenny more. besides, a daughter of the doctor? someone very handy to have around even if she was very new to the world )

Quite a bit, but there's a lot to explore. Thankfully. Think I'd go mad if this place was too small. So where are we going?

Apparently, there are dragons. I thought I'd take a look.

Heard a little bit about them but haven't seen one yet. I met a self-proclaimed Dragon Lord once, but never a real dragon.
